Why Humanity?
Why The Humanity Bracelet?
Why humanitarianism?

In a perfect world there would be no poverty, no wars, no crime, no murder of innocent victims.

Humanitarian considerations would supercede all other options.

Together, we need to find a platform through which we can sharpen and hone the true measure of what it means to be a people with strong humanitarian beliefs and actions.

There are core values that are the cornerstone of the best side of our humanity.

Often, the humanitarian "thing to do" is not always the easiest to do. Many times it can put us at odds with our own self-interest: our own ability to "get ahead." But self-interest is not the measure of our inherent goodness. Doing the right thing, regardless of the personal cost, is the true measure of our humanity.

The news is full of stories of theft, physical harm. Lives cut short - a general sense that the value of all life is losing its valuable currency among many who seek power over others: whether through greed, anger, jealousy, guilt or their self-indulgent behavior.

We have empathy for those among us who lash out in desperation whether though poverty, illness or the sense of being disenfranchised. But what about the desperate and tyrannical acts of those who have much, and seek to gain more, at the expense of those with little or no power to react on their own behalf?

Many of our troubles today do not concern thieves with masks, but those who can make a positive difference in the world, if they simply set their focus on "what is right": for those we do business with, for those we marry, for those we give birth to, for those we teach, for those we meet on the street, for those who need our support, for those looking for answers. For mankind. For our neighbor. For our competitor.

We have found in our own lives, that life is a search for the truth. A trust in one another. It is more important that we work together in a united way, than have the satisfaction of "being right."

Life isn't about perfection and making no mistakes - it is the overcoming of our mistakes to make the world a better place. We owe it to ourselves and others to honor the goodness that can come from recognized errors in judgement and the wiliness to implement a positive change in course.
To do this may seem to try to change the world. But it is our humanity that drives the world. It is up to every one of us.
With a little effort, what a wonderful world it can be!
